Sales Development Representative

As a Sales Development Representative (SDR), your main responsibility is to generate leads and create opportunities for the sales team by qualifying potential customers and setting up meetings or demos with them. You are the first point of contact between the company and potential customers, so your role is critical in creating a positive first impression and establishing a relationship with them.

Here are some of the key roles and responsibilities of a Sales Development Representative:

  • Prospecting: You will be responsible for identifying potential customers through various channels such as social media, email campaigns, cold calling, and referrals. This involves researching and understanding the target audience, their pain points, and their buying behaviours.
  • Qualifying leads: Once potential customers have been identified, you must qualify them to determine if they are a good fit for the company’s products or services. This involves assessing their needs, budget, decision-making authority, and timeline.
  • Setting up meetings: You will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating meetings or demos between the qualified leads and the sales team. This involves managing calendars, sending invitations, and confirming details with the leads and the sales team.
  • Conducting research: You will need to research the industry, market trends, and competitors to better understand the company’s products or services and provide relevant information to potential customers.
  • Creating sales collateral: You will be responsible for creating and updating sales collateral such as decks, proposals, email templates, and sales presentations to ensure consistency in messaging and branding.
  • Providing feedback: You will need to provide feedback to the sales and marketing teams on the funnel’s effectiveness to improve the lead generation and qualification process continuously.
  • Updating CRM: You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of leads and interactions in the company’s CRM system.
  • Achieving targets: You will be responsible for achieving weekly, monthly, and quarterly targets for lead generation, qualification, and meetings set up.

In summary, the role of a Sales Development Representative is to identify and qualify potential customers, set up meetings or demos with them, and provide valuable feedback to the sales and marketing teams.
